UBShas appointed William J Connolly as an account vice president and partner in the Cleary & Divine Group, part of UBS Private Wealth Management. Connolly will be based in the Boston office.

The Cleary & Devine Group was founded by Denis J Cleary and Gregory M Devine, who spent more than 14 years building a $6 billion dollar business before a successful transition to UBS on May 20, 2020.

Connolly has an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and a BA from Dartmouth College. He has also earned his CFA Charter. He holds his Series 3, 7 and 66 licenses.

Citigroup
Citigroup has named David Poole head of wealth management for its US consumer banking business. Poole was formerly at Bank of America, where he ran BoA’s Merrill Edge and Merrill Guided Investing businesses. Before joining the US banking group in 2013, he had held senior positions at ETrade.

This publication notes that Poole should not be confused with another David Poole, who works at the UK private banking arm of Citi.

The news of the appointment comes a few days after Citi’s chief executive, Michael Corbat, announced that after 37 years at the bank, he is stepping down in February 2021. The bank has appointed Jane Fraser, currently its CEO of global consumer banking, to take over.

Fraser’s existing role covers consumer businesses in 19 countries, such as retail banking and wealth management, credit cards, mortgages and the associated operations and technology. Before this, she was the CEO of Citi’s Latin American region from 2015 to 2019. From 2013 to 2015, she was the CEO of the US consumer and commercial banking and CitiMortgage businesses. From 2009 to 2013, Fraser was CEO of the private bank. She joined Citi in 2004, and started her financial career at Goldman Sachs in London, and then Asesores Bursátiles in Madrid, Spain. Fraser is a member of the Board of Dean’s Advisors at Harvard Business School, serves on Stanford University’s Global Advisory Council and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Jane has an MBA from Harvard Business School and an MA in economics from Cambridge University.
